Assessment of organization's maturity in data literacy
The following assessment determines an organization's data literacy maturity. This assessment consists of 16 questions divided into five dimensions: organizational culture and strategy, organizational processes, data and analytics, tools and technology, and knowledge and learning programs. For each statement in the assessment, assign a score between 1 and 5 using the following descriptions:

Organizational culture and strategy

This section assesses how well the organization's data literacy strategy is, including how well it supports a data literacy culture.
1.
There is a manager/sponsor/ambassador within the organization for data literacy.
2.
A majority of organizational leaders promote data literacy in their processes, including the ability for employees to openly question and question data.
3.
The organization has defined and communicated its vision and ambitions in the field of data and analyses.
4.
Uses Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for strategic and departmental goals.

Organizational processes

This section assesses organizational processes related to how they use and support data.
5.
Decisions that are communicated include data, visualizations and insights.
6.
Decision-making processes that use both data and the human element are present within the organization.
7.
The organization has processes and resources in place to support data security and privacy.
8.
The organization has processes and resources to monitor and improve the quality of data.
9.
The organization has processes and training in place to promote the ethical handling of data.

Data and analyses

This section assesses how the organization uses data and analyzes and makes them accessible.
10.
For the majority of the organization, data is accessible via self-service.
11.
The organization has an existing data strategy, including data management and data governance.
12.
The organization uses more than just descriptive analytics (including diagnostic, predictive and normative).
13.
Data and analyzes are embedded in the daily activities of the organization.

Tools and technology

This section assesses the organization's portfolio of tools and technology to support data literacy.
14.
The organization invests in tools and technology that support the data journey and make it easier for decision makers to use data.
15.
The organization invests in technical integrations that make the data and analyzes available to the right users in their work environment with minimal manual interventions (including mash-ups, integrated dashboards and analyses, alerts, notifications and tools to integrate the data with the analyses). .

Knowledge and learning programs

This session assesses the organization's approach to training, upskilling and supporting employees on their journey to data literacy.
16.
The organization offers support in the form of training, coaching or community discussions so that employees can train in the field of data literacy and employees also have the time to use the support.
